Verde Sports Ltd support Travis Perkins in fundraising for the Breast Cancer Campaign

In January 2010, Travis Perkins launched its two–year partnership with Breast Cancer Campaign and Together for Short Lives – formerly Children's Hospices UK. Staff in over 600 branches and regional offices have raised money through 'Travis Pinkins' days and various challenge and sporting events. Whether it is dressing up as superheroes, cycling the length of the country or donning a pink polo shirt, staff at branches of Travis Perkins, the building supplies firm, have thrown themselves into charity fundraising. The company has even sprayed some of its lorries pink to raise awareness of the partnership when making deliveries and its pink wheelbarrows and buckets have proved a hit with customers! In May 2012 the partnership became award–winning at the Business Charity Awards. The aim was to boost awareness of the charities, raise £160,000 for each over two years and unite its 8,000 staff in more than 600 branches by taking part in fundraising activities. Another aim was to generate publicity for the firm. The project has exceeded all expectations. So far, it has raised £820,000 for its charity partners and thousands of its staff are now involved in fundraising activities. A 'Travis Pinkins Day' was held during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October and a pink version of the Travis Perkins polo shirt was produced for staff to wear in return for donations. In support of the Breast Cancer Campaign, Verde sponsored Travis Perkins in Lymm by providing Pink Groovy Grass to fit with the theme, aswell as decorating the Verde Display Stand in pink balloons. Arran Kirk, from Verde jumped at the chance to show his support, especially when he realised it involved taking down pies to hand out to the customers … but were they pink ???
