Verde Racing News | 26/06/2017

ANDO TAKES THE 2-STROKE TOP STEP IN ITALY

The long hot drive to Ottobiano, Italy, for the Italian Motocross GP, was well worth the journey.  Brad Anderson got a solid 2 - 1 in the European 2-stroke EMX300 series and took 1st overall.  He now leads the championship by a clear 21 points, with just 2 rounds to go.

QUALIFICATION

The track was very dry and despite it being only 8.30 in the morning, it was already a scorching 28 degrees C. Brad got a quick time in his third lap and was sitting 3rd fastest until Valterri Malin slotted a quick time in his last lap pushing Brad down to 4th fastest and forth gate pick for the weekend.

RACE 1

Race one was just after lunch on the Saturday and the heat was now a scorching 38 degrees, very dry and dusty.  Brad didn't get a good start, he came round the first bend at back in 10th. The track was very soft, deep sand with ever changing lines.  Kras lead out front to start but Brad was out to win.  He picked off the riders one by one and was in 1st place before you knew it. It was stifling hot.  Kras tired and dropped right back but then, out of nowhere, came a young James Dunn who ploughed through the pack, fought with Brad and then took he lead.  Brad was happy to come home next place to his fellow British rider.. For Race 1 anyway!

RACE 2

Brad got a pretty decent jump out the gate and came down pit lane in 4th place.  Greg Smets was out front and was pulling away.  Brad moved quickly into 3rd and then settled for a couple off laps before he charged through into second.  He fought hard to catch Smets and then with just 4 laps to go Brad made his move as the other riders tired. Once in the lead he chased ahead and left everyone else for dust to take a very comfortable win. Brad couldn't see the chequered flag so carried on to be safe and ended up doing an extra lap in the stifling heat which we could now call a 'lap of honour!'

OVERALL

So Brad Anderson 60 got a 2 - 1 and finished 1st overall at the GP of Ottobiano, Italy.  James Dunn got 2nd and Mike Kras 3rd.  Brad retained his red plate and now leads the championship by a clear 21 points.

QUOTE BY BRAD ANDERSON

What a weekend at the Italian GP.  1st race in the EMX300 I got 2nd on the Saturday and then a win on the Sunday, to take the overall in very hot conditions. A huge thankyou to RJS Builders, Chris Muir, Adrian Kirk and all the sponsors that it made it possible to do what I love, race Motocross and Win.

QUOTE BY TEAM MANAGER ADRIAN KIRK

Brad gave 100% as always. He is a pleasure to work with. A huge thank you to everyone who has helped us with the journey so far. We couldn't have done it without you all.
