Maxxis ACU British Championship Round 7 - Foxhills 2019

Verde Racing News | 16/08/2019

BRAD SITS 6th IN THE MAXXIS

Round 7 of the British Motocross Championship was at Foxhills this weekend.  As it was two years since the track last hosted a British Championship Event it brought in a good crowd, probably the best attended Maxxis this season.

A lot of work had been put into making some changes to the track and a good bit of dirt had been added to what is usually a very hard, fast track.

MX1 BRAD ANDERSON:

QUALIFICATION:

Brad went out on his 2-Stroke, feeling confident and hoping the track would rough up and become more technical as the day progressed.  He enjoyed the ride and put in a faster time each lap, coming in with a 14th place finish, which he was relatively pleased with.

RACE 1:

Not too bad a jump out the gate for Brad but riders were all over the place and it took a couple of laps for Brad to settle and get in a rhythm.  He was in a comfortable 10th and closing on 9th & 8th, when the race was red flagged.  As the race was over half way through the race was called.  So Brad got a 10th place finish in Moto 1.

RACE 2:

Brad was awesome to watch in Moto 2.  He began the race out with an excellent 6th place start and held on to this position for over half the race until he finally came under pressure from Shipton and then Kullas.  He really pushed the 2-stroke to its limit against the 450 bikes and put in some excellent tactical blocking, preventing Shipton from getting past for a good few laps.  Brad kept Lewis Tombs at bay though for the remainder of the race and finished in an excellent 8th place on his 250 2-stroke.

OVERALL:

10-8 for 9th overall.  Brad now sits in a comfortable 6th place in the Championship, less than 20 places behind 4th place Mel Pocock and 5th place Harri Kullas.  Not bad for a 250 2-strok in an MX1 450 class.

QUOTE FROM BRAD ANDERSON:

Felt good out there today and back to my usual self.  Looking forward to racing the 2-smoker in Imola next weekend.

MX2 LIAM KNIGHT:

QUALIFICATION:

Liam, now back on form, didn’t find the track to flow too well and a little slow.  However, he enjoyed the rider and came home in qualification with the 6th fastest lap of the group.

RACE 1:

Moto 1 didn’t quite go to plan.  A bad jump out the gate then a first corner crash left him with bent bars and right at the back of the pack.  He managed to pull through quite a few riders and finished moto 1 in 14th place.

RACE 2:

Moto 2 wasn’t a much better start, coming round in 12th place.  However, Liam got his head down in this this race and battled through the pack, really showing some speed as he was pushed on by Gilbert.  Liam moved through to 4th place passing Michael Ellis.  With just 2 laps to go, Gilbert found a way through leaving Liam to finish in an excellent 5th place.

OVERALL:

14-5 for 9th overall.  Not ideal.  Liam’s first race crash cost him a lot of points.  So Liam now sits 9th place in the Championship.  With Taylor Hammal and Conrad Mews out with injury, Liam should automatically move up to 7th place next round.

QUOTE FROM LIAM KNIGHT:

Felt good today and back to my old self.  Had a ride out on a 450F last week.   Kind of liked it.

QUOTE FROM TEAM MANAGER ADRIAN KIRK:

Fun weekend had by all with some class riding by both team mates.  Brad pushed the 250SX to its limit and nearly managed to hold his own in the MX1 class against the 450s.  Liam showed some real speed and determination in race 2 today.  However, he rode even better last week, on a 450 bike.  Watch this space.
