SOLID DAY AT ROUND 4 OF THE MX NATIONALS

MX NATIONALS – R4 – CUSSES GORSE – 6th AUGUST 2023

The fourth round of the MX Nationals took the team to Cusses Gorse, this is the last time we would be there as the track closes this year. The weather wasn’t kind to us on Saturday, which meant the straight rhythm didn’t go ahead. The track crew worked their magic through the night, which meant the track was in great shape for Sunday’s racing.

DYLAN WOODCOCK:

QUALIFICATION:

This was Dylan’s first ride out on the Verde Shiloh Race bike. Trying to put as many laps in as possible he found himself getting quicker throughout the session. At the finish, he would sit in 13th place.

MX2 RACE 1:

Dylan didn’t get the best of starts in race one, but soon put in a charge and made his way through the pack on the first lap. As the race moved on with some good battles, he managed to move himself up to fourth place. With a consistent gap to the front runners, this is where he would place at the finish.

MX2 RACE 2:

Race 2 saw Dylan get a much better start. With some good battles moving up and down the pack it was another solid race, coming over the line in seventh place at the chequered flag.

OVERALL:

P4-P7 for fifth overall. A solid day for Dylan, a great benchmark to build on.

BAILEY JOHNSTON:

QUALIFICATION:

Bailey soon found his flow around the technical track and started to put some good times on the board. On his last attempt, he managed to put in his best which put him in 16th place at the finish.

MX2 RACE 1:

A good solid start for Bailey in race one, and as the race settled, he found himself in twelfth place. Riding a good solid race he managed to move up to eleventh place, this is where he would finish.

MX2 RACE 2:

Unfortunately, race two saw Bailey go down in the first turn so he would start the race right at the back. He soon got his head down and started, catching the pack. Sadly in the later stages of the race, he had another hard crash which would end his race with a DNF.

OVERALL:

P11-DNF for seventeenth overall.

QUOTE FROM TEAM MANAGER, ADRIAN KIRK:

It was great to get back to racing after a few weeks off. It was also great to have two riders back under the awning with Dylan filling in for Jake. Hopefully, we can finish the season off strong.
